FREE-CLEAN drinking water programs are being offered by the Tule Basin Water Foundation (TBWF) to residents with elevated contaminant levels in their drinking water. To begin the process for verifying whether your water may contain elevated contaminant levels and if you are eligible to enroll in the TBWF Clean Drinking Water Program, fill out the Clean Drinking Water Program Inquiry Form at the links below. Drinking Water Fill Stations

What is a fill station?

Fill stations are located in communities for any person to bring their own water container (maximum container size is 5 gallons) to fill with clean drinking water to take home at no cost. There is no limitation on the number of containers you can fill. Fill stations are open 24 hours a day, 7 days per week.

What size containers can I use at the fill station? / ¿Qué tamaño de contenedores puedo usar en la estación de llenado?
Containers must be 5 gallons or less. However, there is no limit on the number of containers you may
fill.

How do I clean and sanitize water containers for use at the fill station? / ¿Cómo limpio y desinfecto los recipientes de agua para su uso en la estación de llenado?
For your safety, please use only clean containers intended for drinking water. Containers used for milk, juice or any other substance should not be used for water intended for human consumption.
Follow the steps below to clean and sanitize water storage containers prior to filling with drinking water:
  1. Wash the storage container and rinse completely with water.
  2. Sanitize a 5-gallon container with a solution made by mixing 1 teaspoon of unscented liquid household chlorine bleach in one quart of water.
  3. Cover the container tightly and shake it well. Make sure the sanitizing bleach solution touches all inside surfaces of the container.
  4. Wait at least 30 seconds and then pour the sanitizing solution out of the container.
  5. Let the empty sanitized container air-dry before use OR rinse the empty container with already available clean, safe water.
  6. Dispense clean water into the sanitized container and cover with a tight lid.
Para su seguridad, utilice únicamente recipientes limpios destinados al agua potable. Los envases utilizados para la leche, el jugo o cualquier otra sustancia no deben utilizarse para el agua destinada al consumo humano. Siga los pasos que se indican a continuación para limpiar y desinfectar los recipientes de almacenamiento de agua antes de llenarse con agua potable:

How do I store clean drinking water obtained from the fill station? / ¿Cómo puedo almacenar agua potable limpia de la fIII station?
  1. Ensure the water container is covered with a tight lid.
  2. Label container as “Drinking Water” and include storage date.
  3. Do not store water longer than three months.
  4. Keep stored water in a cool, dry place.
  5. Do not store water containers in direct sunlight.
  6. Do not store water containers in areas where hazardous or unsanitary substances, such as gasoline, pesticides, or animals are present.
